Global Mechanical Design Engineering
Kyungsung University
Global Mechanical Design Engineering at Kyungsung University is a rigorous and career-focused, fully English-medium undergraduate program designed for international students who are serious about building a long-term career in mechanical engineering, product design, and manufacturing technology. Located in Busan, South Korea — home to some of Asia's largest shipbuilding, automotive, and industrial manufacturing companies — this program places students directly in the heart of Korea's world-class engineering industry.
The program provides students with a strong and comprehensive foundation in mechanical systems, engineering design principles, thermodynamics, materials science, manufacturing processes, computer-aided design (CAD), and industrial automation. All subjects are delivered entirely in English, ensuring Nepali students can engage fully with the technical curriculum from day one without needing Korean language skills to begin.
Busan is one of the world's leading industrial and port cities, home to globally recognized companies in shipbuilding, heavy manufacturing, and automotive engineering. This gives Mechanical Design Engineering students at Kyungsung University unparalleled access to industry internships, site visits, and real-world engineering environments that go far beyond what a typical classroom can offer. The practical, hands-on nature of the program ensures graduates are truly job-ready from the moment they complete their degree.
The scholarship system for this program is accessible and rewarding. Students without an IELTS score are still eligible for a 30% scholarship from the very first semester. Those with IELTS 7.0 receive 40%, and students with IELTS 7.5 receive 50% at admission. From the second semester onward, scholarships can grow up to 100% based on GPA — meaning students who perform well academically can dramatically reduce their overall cost of education.
As part of the Kyungsung University community, Mechanical Engineering students also benefit from the university's large and established Nepali alumni network of over 1,000 graduates. This community provides ongoing support, mentorship, and career networking opportunities that are invaluable for Nepali students navigating life and work in South Korea.
Graduates of Global Mechanical Design Engineering go on to build successful careers in automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding and marine engineering, industrial design, construction and infrastructure, aerospace, energy, and research and development. South Korea's manufacturing giants — including Hyundai, Kia, and POSCO — are always in need of skilled mechanical engineers, making career prospects for graduates of this program exceptionally strong.
This program is available under the D-2 Student Visa. Nepali students with a minimum +2 or equivalent qualification with 50% marks — preferably with a science or engineering background — are eligible to apply. IELTS is optional and not required for admission, making this one of the most practically valuable and accessible engineering programs available to Nepali students in South Korea today.
